Katosi Women Development Trust is a community based women’s organization coordinating a network of 12 women groups with a total membership of 262 women in Ntenjeru and Nakisunga sub-counties of Mukono district. With now 11 years of existence, the organization vision is to improve living standards of community in Ntenjeru sub-county through efforts of poor rural peasant women of Katosi Women Development Trust. The mission is to have poor rural peasant KWDT women able to initiate and manage their own social, economic and political development processes. The organization carries out a number of projects including water, hygiene and sanitation, agricultural and environmental projects, and micro-finance projects funded by international partners. Outstanding is Methodist Relief Development Fund-UK for Agriculture; Water, Hygiene and Sanitation by SIMAVI-Netherlands and Japan water forum; Transport and communication by MIVA Netherlands, among others. Although intervening through women, all interventions have a multiplier effect that seeks to improve the entire community evident in the participatory designing and implementation various projects.

    Katosi Women Develoment Trust of Uganda is currently working to expand its cow husbandry project, an initative that provides women access to significantly increased income through the sale of milk.
