HISTORY
The Association begain in 1987 by Word Health Organisation (WHO), through Mission Moving Mountains (MMM) supported by the District Medical Officer, Mbale district, Uganda.

In 1994, the Mission Moving Mountains handed over the association to the District medical officer. Since MMM leaving us, the community has been supporting the associations' operations.

In 2003, the association was registered as a Community Based Organisation (CBO), and this year (2008) it was registered as an NGO (Non Governmental Organisation) at the national level.

THE WORK OF THE ORGANISATION.
__train people in both prevention and treatment.
__train people on food production and security
__train people in Functional Adult Litrerancy (FAL)
__train Community Based Rehabilitation to identify people with disabilities and refer to the relevant centres.
__provice services to orphans, widows / widowers and elderly people
__train the community on income generating activities

STAFF
The association has a staff of:
Trainers - 4 from Busiu and 4 from Namawanga Health Center
Executive - 11 people

IMPACT
Nursing assistants currently under training - 20
Functional Adult Literacy programme members - 30
Disabled people currently being served - 50
Traditional Birth Attendants (TBAs) - 6
Community Health Workers (CHWs) - 20

SUCCESSES OF THE ASSOCIATION
- Traditional Birth Attendants (TBAs), Community Health Workers (CHWs), Community Based Rehabilitators (CBRs) continuing with their work effectively

CHALLENGES OF THE ASSOCIATION
- Lack of training materials and medical equipment
- Lack of enough capital for buying materials for income generating activities and the know how.
- Lack of transport for follow-ups and courses whenever called.
- Lack of permanent structure from where to train and hostel for students.
- Lack of computers to facilitate ICT (Information and Communication Technology) training
- Lack of adequate facilitation for trainers.

Some Updates.

Last week the School send the students in the communities to sensitize people on; _The prevention of diseases _ Nutrition _ Hygine and sanitaion _ Family planning, Antinatal and maternal health. _ Immunization. The aim of this is to enable people to live the good health life in their homes, because most of the people are still living in poor health.
