Organizational description
In modern society, computing skills are essential to compete in this fast pace changing technology environment. Enkanyisweni has recognized a need in educating basic computing skills in previously disadvantaged communities, mainly Primary Schools. The exploration and educational use of technology at an early age will lay the foundation for further successful use of technology and lifelong learning.

The Enkanyisweni community based organisation currently operates in the INK (Inanda, Ntuzuma, and Kwamashu) community, Kwazulu Natal. It was founded in 2013, with just two computers and two facilitators at the Vilakazi Primary School in KwaMashu.

The operational offices are based in Kwamashu, with five active staff member, who are passionate in serving their community.

– To foster great relations with the teachers, parents, community and funders.
- To invest in people development (Internal and External).
- To bridge a technology gap in communities.

Vision
- To empower the disadvantaged communities with Information and communication Technology (ICT) development.

Business concept

Enkanyisweni Organisation core program is in educating the previously disadvantage kids in basic computing skills integrated with school educational programs (numeracy and literacy). This will be done in collaboration with the teachers and parents, in enhancing the quality of education to learners.

We also plan in introducing the D.R.E.A.M Program as part of a leadership skill development which will only take place during the school holidays. This program will expose these kids in a variety of positive possibilities around them.

Programs are:
1) Integrated Computer Lessons – these computer lessons integrated with numeracy and literacy educational programs

2) D.R.E.A.M Program – The DREAM is a leadership development program that will be a part of school holiday program to inspire kids to DREAM beyond their current setbacks. The DREAM acronym is Destiny Reaches Every Ambitious Mind.

Market description
The Enkanyisweni Org. works with the previously disadvantage communities in the province of Kwazulu Natal. Our current main focus is the INK (Inanda, Ntuzuma and KwaMashu) community located in the North of Durban. A large part of the community dwellers live below the poverty line, hence they depend of Government Social Grants for support.
