The Domari Society of Gypsys in Jerusalem

Our mission at the Domari Society of Gypsies in Jerusalem is twofold. Our primary focus is to act as a self-help organization for the members of the gypsy population, specifically women and children. This goal is accomplished through women’s vocational training, adult and children’s literacy and language courses, and emergency relief in the form of food, medical, and school supplies.

Secondly, the Domari Society seeks to make the existence and circumstances of the Jerusalem Gypsies known to other cultural groups within Israel, Palestine, and the rest of the world. This is accomplished through small-scale community advocacy, educational lectures, public awareness campaigns, open houses and bazaars, and internet communication with other organizations worldwide.
