We are very happy to announce that we will have a new project as of 2015: The Kindergarten “Programa de Education Temprana” in Villa el Salvador, a poor neighborhood close to Lima, Peru.
We visited the site in February 2015 and immediately agreed to help refurbishing the place as the roof, the floor, the bathrooms and the playground were either in extremely bad condition or simply non-existent.
We agreed with the local community to fix the roof first, as it is most important and urgent matter. It has massive wholes and was simply laying on top of the walls of the rest of the building. It became clear quickly, that the existing roof could not be repaired and hence we decided to build a new one. The total costs will be just above EUR 9,100. However, we have some savings from 2014. Hence, we only need EUR 3,500 to finish the project.
The house has two big rooms which serve as classrooms (one for babies from 0 – 1 year and the other one for kids from 2-4 years. In the afternoon the older kids come in) and an adjacent bathroom.
