    Über das Projekt

Heike M. von Friends of BMS e.V. ist für dieses Projekt verantwortlich
    Who is involved?

The Friends of BMS e.V. – a parent initiative at Berlin Metropolitan School – and parents from the social project – “ORSIM our refugee students in Mitte” – are supporting a refugee student and helping to set up this project.

    Who am I?

My name is Murtaza and I come from Afghanistan. Since around 1 year I live in Berlin, in the Refugio Sharehaus. The Sharehaus is supporting refugees and peoples from different nations while living, working together and sharing their dreams together. Things we share and do together help each single one of us to have more hope for our future.

    My dream & hope

Due to many reasons I was not able to finish school in Afghanistan.
I was lucky, that friends from the refugee camp helped me to join Berlin Metropolitan School.
Berlin Metropolitan School is an International School, where I´m working hard to reach the IB diploma in 2017. I´m happy to continue my studies. My dream is to attend university. My special interest is physics.

Reason for my “Run for a better future” project

Last summer I started running with friends from Sharehaus.
I plan to run Berlin Half Marathon in April 2016´.
Due to my current status I´m not allowed to work.
Even so my student fee is taking care of with a scholarship, my monthly budget for living is very small and there are many other costs involved for school, i.e. exam fees, books, materials for art classes, sport shoes.

Because I like to do something myself, I had the idea of using the Berlin Half Marathon on April 3rd as a possibility to fundraise for my extra expenses for school.
I hope that I will be able to reach the amount to cover my expenses for the next 1.5 years.
This will make it easier for me to focus on learning and to get closer towards my dream of attending a good university.

    Giving an example

Education in society has an important impact. There are many people who want and deserve to study, but financial problems stop them toward their dreams.
Encouraging for sport, which is a necessity for all of us, especially young people, is one aim of this project. Another one is the idea of fundraising for education. Education for having a better future. To promote how important investments for education can be.

    Donations make dreams come true

I like people to know, that each of us should work hard and run for their goals.
And we all should know how important it is, to use all our opportunities and time for making our dreams come true.

“I have no special talent. I am only passionately curious."

Thank you for believing in me and helping me, to make my live a little easier and getting closer to my university dream. Thank you for your donation and support!
