    Über das Projekt

    J. Nabin von Pledge Ghana ist für dieses Projekt verantwortlich
Efforts towards eliminating child labour in Ghana has been commendable, however, it remains a
fact that achievements are still below the thresh hold required for maximum results; and child
labour gets more organized and more migratory in its new forms. In recent times,
unregulated casual labour market centres spring up in the central business and commercial districts of cities in southern Ghana with migrant workers from northern Ghana including children, holding hoes and machetes waiting for prospective employers to engage them casually on a daily basis.

Though young, the District is faced with a situation of severe loss of tree cover apart from the reserved forest, with more degraded farm lands causing many of its inhabitants to migrate to the south in search for survival opportunities. After barely surviving the migration periods lasting between 6 to 8 months, the migrants return to their villages only to get sucked into the same vicious cycle; and with no savings to bank upon, they are forced time and again to migrate out of the villages when their lands get dried by the dry harmattan winds and the scorching sun waves.

Search for survival opportunities forces them to migrate to far off places. After barely surviving the migration period lasting between 6 to 8 months, the migrants return to their village only to get sucked into the same vicious cycle. With no savings to bank upon, some depend on loans taken at exorbitant rates of interest and in order

This project being implemented by Pledge Ghana, is a flexible program with 12 months of activities that demonstrate results based contributions to achieving greater food security such as: improved agricultural productivity, increased access to markets, supporting small scale producer farmer groups to become more commercially viable, farmer support services and innovations in rural livelihoods. The project aims to create job opportunities for the youth in their own communities within the Lambussie Karni District.

    OUR OBJECTIVES ARE:
Goal: To contribute to accelerated poverty alleviation and increase food security particularly among low income rural youth and poor farm families, using a participatory development approach through community-led development, supported by local government structures.
    Project Purpose
The purpose of the project is to increase food supply and farmer incomes, and to help arrest the process of child labour/migration from the project area on a sustainable basis.
    1. To ensure sustainable poverty reduction through strategic innovations for securing livelihoods.
    2. To support existing livelihood strategies by building on strengths and opportunities
    3. To ensure appropriate transfer of skills, labor, assets and opportunities.
    4. To facilitate the use of new information and communication techniques in planning household livelihoods and setting goals.
    5. To build local partnerships and promote equity in strengths and opportunities.
