Schulbausteine für Gando e.V

About us
Schulbausteine für Gando e.V. pursues a sustainable and environmentally-friendly approach in all projects. The architectural designs developed make maximum use of natural resources such as clay, and all other materials are purchased in Burkina Faso itself. There is no need for shipping building materials. In addition to this, construction is carried out by villagers in the community of Gando. In this way, the environmental impact of transportation and construction is kept to a minimum. By using local labour we avoid the financial and environmental cost of flying engineers and consultants to Burkina Faso.
Furthermore our projects are sustainable in that the buildings are durable and easy to maintain. The first primary school was completed in 2001 and is still in perfect condition 11 years on. As a result, we minimize the need for future use of energy and resources.
We recognize the need for education as a central part of sustainability. In order to have a lasting impact, it is essential that the village community acquires both the skills and motivation to replicate sustainable and ecological practices. We cannot expect sustainability to be delivered from NGOs overseas. Our projects are community led, and in this way environmental methods will live on and will expand organically.

Donations that cannot be used for the project
Dear donors,
when managers of a project haven't requested a payout over the course of a longer period, the German law and our terms of use provide that we (gut.org gemeinnützige AG, operator of betterplace.org) use the money for our tax-deductible purposes. The same applies to the cancellation of a project, where the manager of the project is unable to realize it.
Therefore we will use these donations for the following purposes
Thanks for your support,
