The McDonald's Children's Aid Foundation operates 22 Ronald McDonald Houses near children's hospitals nationwide as temporary homes for families of seriously ill children. In 6 Ronald McDonald Oases, families can retreat and feel safe directly in the hospital.
In a Ronald McDonald House, parents and siblings of seriously ill children find a temporary home that gives them a sense of security and a little normality. Due to the close proximity to the hospital, they save energy and are more rested and relaxed when caring for the sick child. The constant proximity to parents and siblings, who comfort, read to or are simply there, supports the healing process of the sick child.
