About us

World Bicycle Relief is a non-profit organization providing access to independence and livelihood through The Power of Bicycles. World Bicycle Relief has trained more than 2,800 field mechanics and provided more than 680,000 specially designed, locally assembled bicycles to school children healthcare workers and entrepreneurs.

World Bicycle Relief is transforming individuals and their communities through The Power of Bicycles. Our Buffalo Bicycles are very robust and simple bicycles especially designed for rural development regions. They are granted through "work-to-own" or "study-to-own" programs or purchased by non-government organisations, corporations or individuals in need of reliable transportation in order to reach clean water, education, healthcare, markets and jobs. European donations fund the Bicycle Educational Empowerment Program (BEEP). This program provides bicycles to rural students (70% girls) enabling them to get to school, access education and livelihood. The results show a significant impact: girls attendance rates are increasing by 28% and academic performance by 59%.
