About us
Sea-Watch was founded at the end of 2014 as an initiative of volunteers who could no longer stand idly by and watch the deaths in the Mediterranean.
The Mediterranean is the deadliest border in the world. Every year, thousands of people lose their lives fleeing across the sea. Since the beginning of 2015, our constantly growing organisation, consisting mainly of dedicated volunteers from all over the world, has been working on the project organisation and implementation of Sea-Watch. In the face of the humanitarian crisis in the Mediterranean, Sea-Watch provides emergency aid, while at the same time demanding and pushing for rescue by the relevant European institutions and publicly advocating for legal escape routes. Through our rescue operations, we document the situation on Europe's external border and help to draw attention to the inhumane European migration policy.
Sea-Watch has so far been involved in the rescue of over 45,000 people.

Wir haben 2.475,58 € Spendengelder erhalten
Nach mehreren Wochen gemeinsamer Rettungseinsätze trennten sich die Crew von Sea-Watch, Sea-Eye und Mediterranea Saving Humans nun wieder. Zwei Mal konnten wir in die Such- und Rettungszone aufbrechen und in mehreren Rettungen insgesamt 163 Menschen von seeuntauglichen Booten retten.
Eine gemeinsame Flotte bleiben wir dennoch, auf unseren Schiffen SEA-EYE 5, Mare Jonio und Sea-Watch 5. Die Zusammenarbeit war, ist und bleibt eine Antwort auf das andauernde Sterben im Mittelmeer. Trotz der politischen Widerstände auch in Deutschland, bleiben die Organisationen ihrem Auftrag treu: Menschenleben zu retten und auf die systematische Unterlassung staatlicher Rettungseinsätze aufmerksam zu machen.
