About us
The Digital Stage is an online application for simultaneous teaching, rehearsing and performing in music and theatre from different locations with uncompressed sound quality and low latency.
In contrast to conventional video conferencing applications, the sound transmitted is not „optimised“ and thus compressed by software filters and effects, but instead arrives to the other participants in best quality.
The Digital Stage project emerged from the German government‘s #WirVsVirus hackathon in 2020 and is run by the non-profit organisation Digitale Bühne gGmbH. What started as an initiative with around 100 participants has become a multidisciplinary network that currently includes more than 70 institutions.
We are building a community of mutual support with the aim to facilitate new ways of working in digital and hybrid spaces for as many people as possible in arts & culture.
