About us

In a world full of finite resources, development can only take place in the recognition of autonomy and self-determination of each individual. The way, method and goal of such an ideal of society is international tourism.

The Studienkreis für Tourismus und Entwicklung (Institute for Tourism and Development) concerns itself with development related information and education in tourism. It works on socio-cultural, intercultural, socio-economic and ecological topics and conflict areas of tourism development with a focus on structurally weak regions, especially in the countries of the Global South.

A sustainable socially and environmentally responsible tourism development, as represented by the Studienkreis, brings people together regardless of their origin and status. It promotes encounters, inter- and transcultural learning and action and thus makes an important contribution to the reduction of prejudices among all participants.
