    About this project

Matthias Böhning from Initiative 27. Januar e.V. is responsible for this project
An estimated 25-30,000 Holocaust survivors still live in Germany. They have experienced the worst at first hand and are important contemporary witnesses that this country needs. Currently, they have to witness once again how anti-Semitism returns to German streets. We have only a few chances left to express our appreciation for them, because their numbers are dwindling every year.

That's why we want to give Holocaust survivors in Germany a special gift. With a high-quality rose box and a handwritten, personal letter, we express: We appreciate you! Your life story is an important testimony! We learn from your message! We take your remembrance seriously!

The gifts will be personally delivered to Holocaust survivors between January 27, 2022 (Holocaust Remembrance Day) and May 8, 2022 (anniversary of the end of World War II). This is made possible through a cooperation with more than 30 meeting places for Holocaust survivors in various Jewish communities throughout Germany. Each meeting place organizes the personal handover in its own way in a solemn, heartfelt and appreciative manner.

The project is supported by the Initiative 27. Januar e.V., a non-profit organization whose goals include keeping the memory of the Holocaust alive and promoting contemporary forms of remembrance culture. The cooperation partners are the Central Welfare Office of Jews in Germany e.V., through whose meeting points the handover of the gifts is organized, the rose supplier Holy Flowers, which provides the rose boxes at the cost of materials, and numerous partners throughout Germany for the creation of the personal letters.

The actors Raul Richter (among others. "Notruf Hafenkante" and owner of Holy Flowers) and Samuel Koch (among others Nationaltheater Mannheim, "The Masked Singer" and initiator of "Nie Wieder!") as well as the YouTubers of Life Lion (Christopher Schacht, Johannes Mickenbecker and many more) support the project.
