About this project

According to a WHO study, around 950 million people around the world need glasses, but cannot afford them. The consequences: children and young people cannot learn, adults cannot work and care for their families.
The solution - A pair of glasses that is adapted and assembled on site.
Eye tests are carried out by a qualified eye care team from the Sheikh Zayed Regional Eye Care Centre, Kanifing (near Banjul) - The Gambia (West Africa). Children and adolescents, as well as adults, are reached through mobile eye camps, eye tests are conducted, glasses are fitted and education on eye health is provided.
Glasses create permanent and "correct" learning and thus permanent jobs as well as an ophthalmic care structure in Gambia.
Because seeing means: reading, learning, living.
