We are ROCK YOUR LIFE!
Our vision is a society in which social mobility, educational equality and equal opportunities are a reality for all young people. In Germany, educational success still depends too much on social background. For children from
educationally disadvantaged backgrounds, this means a cycle of inherited inequality of opportunity.
Our solution is a "one-to-one mentoring relationship" between students
and pupils, which offers close collaboration in the form of regular meetings every fortnight over a period of at least one year or longer.
On the one hand, the "one-to-one mentoring relationship" focusses on showing students their future prospects after leaving school and supporting them as much as possible along the way. In detail, this support involves writing applications together, improving CVs and simulating job interviews. On the other hand, it also serves the primary purpose of socialising. Through our monthly social events, we enable great experiences with the students, such as a visit to the football stadium, go-karting or bowling, regardless of the topic of future orientation.
Our mentoring programme relieves the burden on parents, empowers students and overcomes social inequalities.
A study conducted by the Institute for Economic Research in 2023 shows that our ROCK YOUR LIFE! mentoring makes a significant contribution to increasing labour market opportunities, developing personal potential and prosociality. ROCK YOUR LIFE! not only has a positive impact on the participants, but also on society as a whole. A cost-benefit calculation by the institute also shows that our programme has a return on investment of 1500% across all young people. If only the most disadvantaged are considered, the return is as high as 3100%.
In other words, every euro invested in ROCK YOUR LIFE! is worth 15-31 euros to our society.
