Healthy soils are the basis of all life on earth

Nevertheless, more than 10 million soccer fields of healthy soil are lost every year. Step by step, our earth is becoming a desert. This is due to climate change, but also because of the way soils are cultivated. 74% of the world's poor suffer from this development, desertification. Many farmers are losing their livelihoods. At the same time, agriculture is responsible for about a quarter of climate change. Biodiversity is also suffering greatly as a result.

betterSoil supports farmers

To improve soils, we combine the latest scientific findings with the knowledge of local people. The betterSoil approach combines four scientific principles:

1. Compost is mixed with
2. biochar and added to the soil.
3. The way the soil is managed is changed and adapted with
4. agroforestry systems to suit local conditions.

Carbon is now in the soil instead of in the atmosphere

betterSoil is a team of 16 dedicated "young professionals" from 5 countries. Our teams in Kenya, Iran and Malawi are working economically. They are startups ready to start pilot projects and develop business models. The aim is to become self-sufficient in the long term.
