Anyone who has ever tried to cross a border by train in the European Union knows the problems.
In some places trains do not even run.
In others they run, but booking tickets for them is excessively complex.
Timetables either side of the border are not in sync.
And the COVID pandemic has made it even worse.
As rail is the greenest long distance transport means this isn’t good enough - it’s time to put the problems of cross border rail right.
#CrossBorderRail is a project to tell all these stories, from the ground, and explain what needs to be done to fix the difficulties. Jon Worth will cross every internal border in the EU you can cross by train in a 40 day trip. He will meet activists as he goes along, and report back to EU policymakers what has to happen!
€4096 is necessary to finance the project. €3054 could be additionally raised in order to pay myself a small wage of €50 per day during the project, rather than offering my time completely for free.
