The idea behind our project is to extend the search radius of rescue missions (SAR) at sea:
Without aerial support, the visibility range on a ship when searching the sea with binoculars is limited to about 3 nautical miles (5km) - partly due to waves, partly due to the curvature of the Earth.
Our drone, which flies at an altitude of about 300-500m above the sea, is equipped with an 8 MP camera. This allows to extend the search radius - with a coverage of up to 50 km2 per mission.
