Sustainable living in community at the Luhrmannhof

Affordable housing, sustainability and community. The Luhrmannhof in Osnabrück bundles all these aspects in one place. In community with students and trainees, we want to buy the farm, manage it ourselves and transform it into a place of political participation, co-determination and personal and environmental responsibility. The primary goal of the non-profit Luhrmannhof e.V. is to preserve as much affordable housing as possible for students and trainees on site, while maintaining the unique character of the place, including heritage buildings.

Over the past 30 years, Luhrmannhof has developed a valuable and enriching student housing culture with connections to other networks and projects. It has become an oasis of thriving life and has its own charm due to its 30-year history. But in October 2021, the residents* received a letter in which the Studentenwerk Osnabrück informed them about the planned sale of the property at the earliest possible date. The purchase must be completed by March 31, 2023.

The Luhrmannhof e.V. consists of residents of the farm. With the support of experts in the fields of construction planning, project development, law and financing, we are working together to find a sustainable solution.

We want to raise €100.000 through donations to cover a large part of the purchase costs.
Our preliminary calculations show that our financing model is sustainable in the long term, even without increasing the cold rent. Only high one-time costs for purchase and renovation loan we can not afford from our own resources at the moment. Every donation brings us closer to the sum needed to get the ball rolling.
