Help us to build a school for underprivileged children in Kokrobite!

In the fishing communities of Tuba and Kokrobite in Ghana, one in eight children aged 6-14 either does not attend primary school, does not attend school regularly or drops out.
Massive inflation makes it difficult for parents to finance a quality education for their children. Many of them only earn around two euros a day. There is also a general lack of schools and teachers in Ghana; classrooms in public schools are hopelessly overcrowded with up to 60 pupils.

Since 2015, Arise e.V. has been providing free lessons for over 70 pupils from preschool to year 6 using the experiential education model. We employ seven teachers, a cleaner and a cook who provides our pupils with freshly cooked, balanced meals every day. 
 
The primary school is currently located in a temporary building. In the long term, however, Arise e.V. would like to give many more children access to education.  That is why we launched a school construction project with sustainable prospects in October 2022. 
The construction plan for the school building includes nine classrooms, a library, an IT lab, a canteen, an art room, a playground, a study for teachers, a secretariat and five bathrooms (user-friendly for people with disabilities). In total, there will initially be space for 216 pupils, but the architecture will allow the building to be extended by several storeys in the future. 

The total cost of building the school is around €250,000.
We have already been able to raise part of this sum through individual donations and association contributions.

We have already reached the following milestones:
- Purchase of a plot of land (1300 square metres) in Kokrobite
- Construction plan finalised 
- Contract concluded with a building contractor for the project
- October 2022: Start of the school construction project
- December 2022: Completion of the 1st stage (surveying, foundation, wall)
- 60,000€ in funding from "Bingo! The environmental lottery" received
- January 2023: Start of the 2nd stage (three classrooms, sanitary facilities, canteen)
- May 2023: First roofs on the canteen and wash house
 
Our goal is to be able to move into the school building this calendar year, at the start of the new school year.
