The Aurelia Foundation advocates for pollinators throughout Germany and Europe. Whether as an advocate for bees, as an initiator of popular initiatives or as a partner for research projects to improve bee health - our projects strengthen the presence and protection of wild and honey bees.
Bee mortality is occurring worldwide. The main causes are the global spread of bee diseases, but above all habitat loss and the ongoing globalization of agriculture, which is characterized by monocultures, the use of pesticides and genetic engineering. This is accompanied by a decline in biodiversity, the loss of flowering plant populations, leading to hunger and an unbalanced diet for bees.
Beekeepers have complained for years about an increasing loss of honey bee colonies. At the same time, populations of many wild bee species are declining dramatically. This is no coincidence, but a development that is becoming more and more entrenched. Bees are proving to be a seismograph for the state of our environment. At the same time, their disappearance is emblematic of the global extinction of species and is an expression of fundamental undesirable developments in man's interaction with nature.
Our work in the Aurelia Foundation therefore serves the goal and purpose of sensitizing society to the causes and dangers of global bee and species extinction, strengthening research and general education about bees, and motivating as many fellow human beings as possible to get personally involved.
