About this project

The key to breaking the Veil of Silence is applicable to every country and every time and always brings about healing and reconciliation. All over the world, people do not talk about their own family's involvement in injustice and extreme nationalism prevents them from honestly coming to terms with the history of military dictatorships, communism or slavery.
In the seminars, it becomes clear every time how much these traumatic experiences live on in the descendants to this day, and how hatred and reservations persist over generations.
When Jobst Bittner's book "Die Decke des Schweigens" (The Veil of Silence) was published in German in 2011, the message was initially aimed primarily at the descendants of German Nazi perpetrators. But the personal accounts of the change that happened as a result of coming to terms with family history aroused interest, especially in countries that were equally affected by World War 2 and the Shoah.
Among the first countries to hear the message were Ukraine and Poland. Many are the descendants of the victims of the German racial mania and still suffer from what they experienced.
Due to many years of communist rule, in Ukraine, for example, the consequences of the war and the Holocaust are not talked about - neither in society nor in families. The participants of the first international DDS seminar were shocked by how much they had inherited ideologies from their ancestors. They spoke for the first time about complicity in the crimes of communism and about Soviet and national anti-Semitism.
We want to spread this message to the countries of Eastern Europe and Latin America. However, for many interested communities it is not possible to cover the travel costs for Jobst Bittner and his team.
With your donation, you can practically pass on the blessing you have experienced yourself to others.
