The Window of Life Foundation has been supporting vulnerable children, youth and families living in Uganda since 2011. What started out as a 'Babies Home' for abandoned and orphaned children, has taken a grassroot approach to grow into a social welfare centre within its community in the Masindi region, central Uganda. Through its holistic approach, Window of Life now plays a central supportive role in the community through its medical outreach programme, the women's empowerment programme, and the community scholarship programme. Next to the over 30 children living in the Babies Home, Window of Life supports a multitude of community families, women-led businesses and otherwise vulerable children and youth.
Window of Life Babies Home is currently located in a rented premises. However, steadily increasing rent, limited space within the building, and the uncertainty of the lease due to the increased presence of international investors in the town created a barrier for long-term organisational planning. That is why in 2021 we purchased a plot in Masindi Town with the aim of constructing a child- and eco-friendly space that is fit for the future!
We are seeking financial support for the first phase of the project, which includes the construction of a residential building for the youngest children (appr. 24 places), a solar installation, a boundary wall, a borehole, and ecological latrines and showers. The total cost of this first phase is estimated to be around 100,000€. Any support from you will help us get closer to realising this unique project.
