    Project Field Kitchen

Various organizations of German volunteers have joined forces for a joint project. The aim of the "Project Field Kitchen" is to equip villages in the east of Ukraine with field kitchens and to ensure a sustainable supply.

The group is made up of various organizations and individuals who have been providing humanitarian aid since February 2022. We have been present in various crisis areas in Ukraine to provide frontline villages with medicine, food and pet food and to establish a logistics network in Europe.

During the sometimes very intensive work in the frontline area of Ukraine, we were able to gather a large repertoire of knowledge and experience over the past months. We have all noticed that it is very difficult to provide sufficient supplies to the people in the affected areas: Volunteers have to travel to the villages on the front line in very short frequencies in order to provide the civilian population, which is largely cut off from infrastructure and government assistance, with a basic, vital supply of food, medicines and goods for daily use. In doing so, they sometimes risk their lives and have to invest a lot of time and energy in any case. By providing people with self-sufficient supplies, aid workers could work much more efficiently. The civilian population has also become dependent on this procedure.

We would like to break this dependence by creating the basis for an independent supply by means of field kitchens. Initially, we would like to limit ourselves to the greater Kharkiv area, since this region in eastern Ukraine is suffering particularly from the Russian war of aggression.

The response from our local partners so far has been very positive, and demand is already high. This, in addition to the threat of a freezing winter and the systematic destruction of critical infrastructure (electricity, water, energy), confirms our determination to implement our project as quickly as possible. Therefore, our set goal is to install 15 field kitchens in villages in Kharkiv region from mid-December. One field kitchen will provide food for about 500 people. In order to be able to procure these, we are dependent on the help of supporters. In order to be able to implement the project financially, we need a total of about 35,000 euros, which covers the purchase of the field kitchens, the transport, the sustainable support with the appropriate humanitarian goods on site as well as the repair and maintenance of the equipment.
