    About this project

Lamia Faqirzada from Förderverein Antikes Antiochia e.V. is responsible for this project
On February 6th, 2023, an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.7 shook southern Turkey.

It is currently reported that approx.  20,000 people are dead and  70,000 injured.  These numbers are increasing every minute.  It is expected that around 16 million people will be affected by the effects of the earthquake catastrophe.

The survivors mourn their family members - they’ve lost their parents, their children, their siblings,  their friends....

…and In addition, these people became homeless overnight.

Our families & friends from Hatay are also immensely affected.

We are native Berliners whose grandparents and/or parents come from the earthquake region Antakya, Hatay.  Therefore we have an emotional and personal bond with this region and the people who live there.

The region is in utter distress.  The scale of the horror Hatay is experiencing is inconceivable.

Sadly, the most important supply points and infrastructure have also been destroyed (roads, hospitals, schools,  business premises, etc.) which makes relief transportation an even greater challenge.

Although we can't even begin to understand the toll of this devastation our hearts ache for everyone there. That's why we're working relentlessly day and night to support and help those who have been affected by this tragedy.

As a non-profit organization „Antikes Antiochia e.V.,“  we‘ve been collecting donations and goods in Berlin and North Rhine Westphalia since day one. The first packages already reached the region by plane and some are getting transported through trucks and heavy good vehicles.

In addition, the need for monetary donations is of great importance. Monetary donations are the most efficient and quickest to help. Every cent counts.

Our non profit organization „Antikes Antochia e.V“ , has set the goal to provide sustainable emergency aid in the region of Antakya (Hatay). In addition to providing emergency aid, we want to also provide long-term support for the reconstruction and new beginnings for the victims.

About the background of the association:
The non-profit organization „ Antikes Antochia e.V.“ was founded in 2004 in Berlin.  Since 2004, we have organized cultural exchange projects, beneficial events and collected donations for educational projects and scholarships for children, young people and women in the region of Antakya. In doing so we have already been able to help individuals in this region by giving the opportunity for an education - this changed destinies.

It's now time to stick together, join forces and help. Help for not only now, but also tomorrow.

Thank you for your trust & your support
