Protection for impoverished and nearly lost indigenous people in ElSalvador

The group of Nawat speaking indigenous people were almost exterminated in El Salvador in the last century, their language and culture were considered lost. In fact, the indigenous groups in their community have tried to maintain their language and culture - but in secret and under constant pressure of social discrimination. Today, the Nawat groups live in great poverty and still in fear of further loss of their identity and existence.

The project will work with other partners in El Salvador to strengthen the rights of indigenous groups to their own culture and make it visible in society.
