Free education for a self-determined future at Drobo Kindergarten, Ghana

OUR MISSION, together with you and many other people, is to provide children in Africa with sustainable access to education and knowledge in order to support the smallest of us on their way to a self-determined life and thus promote local social and economic development directly on site. Education is unfortunately not provided for most children. Only those whose families can afford it financially have the privilege. We do not want to accept this injustice and give all children in Drobo a chance. Let us take responsibility together and pave the way for the future of Ghana and make the essential good "education" accessible to all. Education is the key to independence, development and freedom - for a better future!

KINDERGARTEN DROBO
Kindergarten Drobo is a community-driven project located in the Bono region of Ghana, close to the border of Cote d'Ivoire. The construction of the kindergarten began in 2021, and we welcomed our first cohort in summer of 2022. Arriving at the construction phase was possible due to Stephen Takyi the founder spending a year in Ghana to oversee the construction of the kindergarten. He was later joined by the rest of the AFK team who donated time, furniture and ressouces as well as building relationships with the community. Our goal now, is to complete the physical structure and implement a unique pedagogical approach that provide holistic care and education serving the children, their families and the wider community and in alignment with the natural environment.

ABOUT AFRICAN FUTURE KIDS 
African Future Kids consists of people with and without African migration background from around Germany, England and Ghana. The AFK team have a variety of backgrounds, stemming from education, economics, culture, technology, handcraft and much more. We draw from our range of skills and collaborate with people, organisations and communities to provide support and make real world changes. Our goal is to develop infrastructure to support our vision to enable or improve access to education, economic participation and health for people in Africa and to support children on their way to a self-determined life. We achieve our goals through international, interprofessional collaboration on a wide variety of projects, one of which is Kindergarten Drobo.
