VYA - A goal for the future: We discover talent, unleash potential and support children in Cape Town through football and extracurricular activities. Support us for a better future!
Veron Youth Academy (VYA) has been committed to helping disadvantaged children and youth in the Helderberg Basin in Cape Town, South Africa since 2020. Our aim is to provide them with safe and quality extracurricular activities to broaden their perspectives and enhance their personal development.
We work to empower children from underserved communities who often do not have access to safe playgrounds and quality recreational opportunities. Our response is to use sport, particularly football, as a means of nurturing talent and teaching important life skills.
Our initiative targets socially disadvantaged children and youth in Cape Town. Our activities include regular football training sessions, local tournaments and partnerships with schools to improve sports facilities and provide better training conditions for the children.
The Veron Youth Academy team consists of Veron, Peter, the founder and director, Tobias, who manages the finances, and Kirstin, who is responsible for communications. We also work with partners in Germany to strengthen our capacity and receive additional support.
To drive our project forward, we rely on donations to cover the running costs of training equipment, jerseys, healthy food and transport. Every contribution, big or small, helps us to positively shape the future of our children and give them new hope and perspectives.
Over the next 5 years, we aim to establish a safe and permanent centre for extracurricular activities in the community. With the support of donors, we can achieve this ambitious goal and sustainably improve the quality of life for our children.
So far, thanks to the generosity of donors, we have already raised over R290 000 (~€14000) to provide weekly activities for over 40 children and to win three local football tournaments.
