Up to 1,000 young adults (between 18 and 27 years old) live in some form of homelessness in Augsburg.
I've been trying to get the city of Augsburg to take action for years, but nothing happens!
In September 2022, one thing became clear to me: I couldn't and didn't want to watch any longer. A solution must finally take effect now. I have put my 15 years of experience into a sustainable concept to end these catastrophic conditions.
An association (JCube e.V.) was founded in April 2023 with colleagues and interested citizens. We are now trying to find an affordable and large building in which we can implement this new living concept.
A J*Cube U25 is planned with plenty of emergency sleeping space, a transitional home, its own apartments suitable for young people (all integrated in one building), its own therapy offering, meeting point café, educational offerings, cooperation with schools, a cross-city network, involvement of employers and private apartment owners, as well as the three most important ones Points: Advice Advice Advice.
Since this project is extremely BIG for the near future and requires a lot of capital and patience, we don't want to wait that long and implement a concrete, reduced offer as soon as possible - DOING is better than WAITING.
Unfortunately, our pop-up living didn't work out in the winter - but we're not giving up - and have expanded and supplemented the concept for pop-up living. We are still looking for suitable living space (we underestimated these tasks) as our ideas would also work in smaller units if necessary.
This pop-up living is intended as a transition until the permanent J*Cube is completed; to be offered in ever-changing buildings.
