About this project

Eric Schmidl from Human Aid Collective e. V. is responsible for this project
Together we save little Malak from Yemen!

Malak is a nine-month-old girl from Yemen and has been suffering from a severe heart defect since birth. When she cries, her face turns black because her heart is not getting enough oxygen. When she tries to crawl on the floor, she doesn't get far because she can hardly breathe. Her daily life means suffering. Her parents try everything to make it for there only child as comfortable as possible. But without the urgently needed correction of the heart defect, Malak has a very little chance of survival. In Yemen, where a civil war is ongoing for more than nine years, such an operation cannot take place due to the poor medical system. In Germany, according to specialists, the heart operation has very good chances of success.

The University Hospital for Pediatric Heart Surgery and Congenital Heart Defects in Bad Oeynhausen/NRW has already accepted Malak as a patient. The necessary heart surgery can therefore be done as soon as possible if the costs are covered. If everything goes well the costs for the operation, the medical aftercare for Malak and subsistence as well as the flight for the family are approximately 40,000 €. This is a financial burden that the family cannot take without help.

As a humanitarian aid organization working worldwide we know of several such cases and in particular in Yemen the number of children with congenital heart defects is high. However the case of the nine-month-old Malak is special. We have been providing emergency humanitarian aid in Yemen for more than three years and rely on the support of aid organizations on site. Malak's father is the founder of such an NGO, which provides through small and large aid projects vital supplies to many families and children in need in Yemen. We have been working with him and his NGO "Human Needs Development" for several years. They save lives under the most difficult conditions. Thinking of others, even though life in Yemen is very difficult for them too. Now the father needs help for his daughter himself and depends on us as a community.

We ask you to support Malak and the family with a donation, whether small or large. Together we show a heart for Malak!

Attention: We explicitly point out that in case the heart surgery is not feasible in Germany, e.g. due to the deny of medical visas for Malak and her parents by the German Foreign Office, we will use the already collected donations for the medical care of Malak in another country or for our humanitarian aid of suffering children in Yemen.
