In Yemen, 14 million people are in dire straits out of a population of 24 million, with no end in sight to the crisis since 2014. This historic conflict has spawned the world's worst humanitarian catastrophe, causing hunger, displacement, and revealing a complex web of domestic politics, sectarian tensions, and regional rivalries in the Middle East.
Crumbling waterways and collapsing social services have led to the spread of preventable diseases like cholera and diphtheria, and the situation is expected to worsen. Challenges include a shaky truce, no peace agreement, economic decline, and crumbling infrastructure and services, worsened by climate change.
Yet, there's hope. Vision Hope International e.V. (VHI) has been in Yemen since 2002, providing emergency aid and sustainable projects. From Food Security to Education, VHI operates in 9 governorates across Yemen, with over 200 dedicated team members in strategic locations, making a difference in one of the world's toughest environments.
