About this project

Miriam Richter from Arts for Change e.V. is responsible for this project
For many people in Uganda, the year 2023 was characterized by one topic in particular: Everything has become more expensive. Global conflicts and climate change are affecting the reality of life for everyone, but the last few years have been particularly tough in countries in the Global South, where there is hardly any state aid for civil society or small NGOs.
Our partner organization Omuti Kreativ in Uganda has also had to contend with rising costs this year. Rent, utilities, food, public transport - everything has become significantly more expensive. Despite this, the organization has once again put on many important workshops and events this year, trained interns and produced a video campaign on the subject of land grabbing (link to the campaign: https://youtu.be/JaqaLIUnk9Q?feature=shared) and a podcast (Ugandan Art Speaks Out).
Furthermore, the Arts for Change Centre in the heart of the Lweza neighborhood in Kampala provides space, time and expertise every day for children and young people in the area and is a point of contact for schools, parents and many other groups.
Now, as the year draws to a close, Omuti Kreativ's financial resources are exhausted and cannot be repaid by its own efforts.
And this is where we at Arts for Change e.V. and you come in:
We would like to finance all outstanding costs with this crowdfunding so that our colleagues in Uganda can go into the Christmas holidays relaxed, without worries and the year can end without debt. We would also like to pre-finance the rent for the first three months of 2024 to ease the financial situation.
At the end of the year, however, there are many different things to be done, and we would be happy if you choose from a variety of different needs what you would like to donate to the organization. No matter whether you want to finance new curtains, a portion of the rent or new seeds for the garden - any amount helps and we look forward to your help!

All donations go into the account of the German partner organization Arts for Change e.V. and are then transferred directly to Omuti Kreativ in Uganda. The donations from the crowdfunding will only be used for the needs specified here. If you have any questions, please contact us at artsforchange@gmx.de.
