Bringing Berlin's history(s) to life - promote education now!

In Germany, education is the only resource for our future development. Politics, business and society are largely in agreement on this. Spending one Euro more on education today would pay off many times over in the form of improved school qualifications, training and higher vocational education.

 

The well-known berlinHistory app https://berlinhistory.app/ currently contains as many texts on the city's history as would fill 66 books of 300 pages each, around 20,000 illustrations, over 350 videos and 43 video/audio city tours on various topics in the app.

 

We are expanding our ambitions and want to develop an app specifically for "History outside the school gate" and other educational projects. The inspiration for this is our project in collaboration with the Anne Frank Centre. Read more here:

 

As part of the Anne Frank Centre's award-winning and funded project "History outside the school gate", pupils from the Grundschule am Teutoburger Platz primary school in Berlin and their teacher took an audio tour along stumbling blocks in the school's neighbourhood. They told the family stories themselves in podcasts, some of which included interviews with descendants of the Jews.
Particularly in view of the current antisemitic attacks and graffiti, this project shows ways in which children and young people can research history themselves and build up a relationship with the subject of their research.

With your help, we can enable teachers and pupils to work on individual digital projects in a separate room within the berlinHistory app, supported by the content of the berlinHistory app. The results can then be presented online on the smartboard in the classroom, for example.
