About this project

Kai Ehrhardt from we are village | queer matters gGmbh is responsible for this project
Since 2016, we've provided a unique space for the Berlin LGBTQIA+ community through our non-profit organization called we are village | queer matters. We welcome all queer masculinities, femininities, trans*, non-binary individuals, genderfluid, intersex, and other gender-nonconforming people.

A diverse program of courses, workshops, retreats, outings, and art residencies allows individuals on the queer spectrum to experience (anew) topics like embodiment, identity, creativity and societal change individually and within the community. Both at in-person events and online, consent and respecting (personal) boundaries are at the forefront of our values. The progressive, inclusive, and intersectional atmosphere at we are village provides a safer space where growth and healing can thrive. Everyone can be themselves here.

Over the past year, we've worked intensely to secure funds to sustain the existence of we are village, support, and expand our offerings for the queer community. These efforts have been remarkably successful, enabling us to grow in the future and offer a wider range of activities and programs. However, we've encountered a new challenge: The majority of these funding sources require that we match these funds by raising them ourselves.

That's why we're now launching a crowdfunding campaign. For every euro you can spare, we're not only infinitely grateful to you, no! Each euro donated generates a fivefold value to these projects:

  • Spaces of Belonging: aims to address loneliness and isolation in the LGBTQIA+ community through self-experiential, creative, and communal activities to create or strengthen a sense of belonging
  • Queer Bridges: creates inclusive offline and online spaces for queer migrants and people with refugee experiences in Berlin and Germany, supporting them in their social and creative growth
  • Art Bridge: assists queer artists with migration, exile, or refugee experiences in establishing themselves in Berlin, networking with other creatives, and advancing in their careers
  • Queer Connect: empowers queer individuals on personal, communal, and societal levels, promotes intersectional thinking within and outside their own bubble, and builds bridges to other marginalized communities
  • Queer Connect - Digital Community: creates an inclusive and welcoming online community and platform for queer individuals in Germany and internationally
  • Project with Berliner Aidshilfe: supports GBTQ+ individuals to better understand the complex interweaving of needs, emotions, boundaries, sexuality, belonging, cultural influences and substance use, enabling them to build more sustainable relationships.
Thank you very much for your support!
