🌿 A new chapter for global agriculture in Berlin
In October 2024, our field house in Berlin-Pankow was destroyed in a fire. What followed was an overwhelming wave of solidarity and support – a powerful reminder that so many people stand behind our work. This moment also made it clear: we need to build more resilient, accessible and future-oriented structures for our educational project.
Now we're taking the next step – and we want you to be part of it:
In 2025, the Ackerlab will take root – a second site of Berliner Weltacker e. V., located at the historic Späth Arboretum in Berlin-Treptow.

🌍 The Ackerlab – a place for the future
On 660 m² in the heart of Berlin, we’re creating a learning and experimental field for agroecological farming:
- How can agriculture succeed in a changing climate?
- How can we ensure fair and sustainable food systems – locally and globally?
- What are the real alternatives to industrial agriculture?
The Ackerlab will showcase resilient farming methods from around the world, including:
- Wheat-pea intercropping from Germany
- Milpa system from Mexico
- Clay pot irrigation from Ethiopia
It will be a space for workshops, urban gardeners, school classes, curious visitors and everyone who wants to explore the future of agriculture – openly, collaboratively and hands-on.
Unlike our first field in Berlin-Pankow, which reflects current global agricultural realities, the Ackerlab looks ahead and presents possibilities and solutions.
💚 Why we need your support
This new site is a real opportunity – but it's not yet financially secured. There is currently no dedicated funding, so we urgently need your help:
- to build infrastructure and irrigation
- to ensure accessible paths and entryways
- to acquire plants, seeds, and tools
- to run workshops and learning formats
- to support the people who will bring the Ackerlab to life
