Biking4Bali

When one thinks of Bali, they think of a beautiful vacation, but in many parts of Bali, there is still significant poverty, especially in the Ban village in the east of the country. The schools in the eastern part of the country receive very limited government support, and the nearest public school is over 10 kilometers away. To reach it, parents need their own cars or motorcycles, and the journey takes about 3 hours, which would be a significant burden for students on a daily basis. Therefore, support for schools in the villages is essential.

We are Charlotte and Jonas, and we are embarking on a journey from Germany to Bali by bicycle for an entire year. Both of us have had the opportunity to receive a good education without major obstacles. When we are not cycling this year, we work as a doctor and an engineer.

We are passionate about the education of children and shaping a more open future for the next generation. Therefore, we want to use our energy to collect donations for the Manikaji School in Bali. The Manikaji School was opened in 2001, and currently, 68 children between 7 and 19 years old attend. So far, 340 students have been educated, and some have gone on to attend secondary schools in major cities.

We are working with The Wave Project e.V. and initially aim to support the students and teachers at the school on-site.

We are in the process of developing further ideas in collaboration with The Wave Project e.V and are grateful for any support for better access to education. We are excited to see what we can achieve!
