Since the beginning of the Russian war against Ukraine, Germany has given safe refuge to thousands of people with disabilities from Ukraine. Although the care provided by our public healthcare system is gigantic, it is hardly possible to heal the emotional wounds.
Nevertheless, the majority of these special patients remain in Ukraine for a variety of reasons: some have returned because no suitable care place has been found for them in Europe, some because their long-term carers were unable to travel with them for family reasons, others because they were afraid of the unknown and the language barrier.
We therefore ask you to support the Ukrainian association "Tim" - "the team". They have been there for such people for almost 10 years.
The name of the project is the programme. Since the Maidan in 2014, they have been working to facilitate the care of disabled people. A small but very dedicated team of three women - Elena, Nadja and Natalia - produce aids for the severely disabled in a rented workshop in Kyiv: padded occupational therapy support elements so that those affected can sit or lie down more comfortably.
Since the outbreak of the war, they have sent out 7096 products. The items are produced at cost price and distributed free of charge to those in need who apply to TIM with a diagnosis. TIM only asks for a photo report after delivery. All those involved work completely on a voluntary basis.
We want to use the money you donate to buy materials and hand them over to "TIM" so that this worthy project in Ukraine can continue to work for at least six months. At the same time, people with severe disabilities will receive free, needs-based items to make their lives easier.
This is possible because Ukrainian and German carers, members of our German organisation, are in contact with each other and drew our attention to this great project.
