Project: Fencing 4 hectares of pasture for our sheep and goats
Our project aims to fence in 4 hectares of pasture for our flock of sheep and goats. We want to ensure the safety of our animals and at the same time provide as much freedom as possible. The goats and sheep under our care should be able to graze on these areas. That means we have to put up over a kilometer of fencing.
How will we proceed?
Select fence type:
We will use a knotted braid made from galvanized wire as it works well for sheep and goats. This system is durable and provides security from any escapes but other wildlife. It is also important that the posts are made of galvanized aluminum so that they last a very long time.
Determine fence height and wires:
We use a knotted braid that is 120 cm high. This ensures that the goats cannot climb over either. The wire thickness will be at least 2mm thick, while we will use a mesh width of 10x15cm.
Construction of the fences:
In addition to Laura and Lutz, our team consists of experienced helpers who are already familiar with the construction of pasture fences. Together we will build the fence and ensure it meets the needs of our sheep and goats.
Time schedule:
We have divided our project into three phases.
Phase 1 (April): Fence planning and material procurement
Phase 2 (May-August): Fence construction and installation
Phase 3 (August-September): Final work and security check
Use of donations:
The donations collected are used exclusively for the fencing material (purchase of knotted mesh, posts and accessories). All work is provided on a voluntary basis and therefore does not incur any additional costs.
Donation amount:
We expect a total of around EUR 6,000 for the project. Since we crowdfund in various ways, we collect around 2/3 of the total here on Betterplace.org. You can always find an overview and current status of all promotions on our website.
