The discrimination against trans*, intersex and non-binary (TIN) people within in society currently increases on many different levels. The organisation TIN Legal Aid (TIN-Rechtshilfe) wants to offer support and counseling to TIN people whose rights have been hurt. Through its work it wants to criticise and change societal structures of TIN oppression.
Many requests for counseling are reaching TIN Legal Aid at the moment. Because our work is currently exclusively done on a voluntary basis the amount of requests exceeds our existing capacities. In order to support more people TIN Legal Aid wants to professionalise its work. And in order to achieve this goal, we need your support.
The first step towards professionalisation of its work is a paid executive officer. This person can respond to requests for counseling and coordinate the support. To pay a position of 20 hours per for one year we need approximately 30,000€. With the additional sum of 2,600€ we can provide this person with a professional home office equipment and cover the running home office costs for one year.
If the whole sum gets raised TIN Legal Aid can offer free legal counseling by a fully qualified lawyer. Twenty counseling sessions can be covered if we raise 2,000€. For an addition 3,000€ two people can be trained to offer emotional support for the people seeking advice and can be paid for 36 hours of work. We can also create and print leaflets to be distributed in the community if we get an additional 2,000€.
Further donations will lead to additional positions being created, for example for public relations work. Also supporting individual cases and offering help with applying for government-funded counseling vouchers („Beratungshilfeschein“) and government-funded legal support („Prozesskostenhilfe“) could be funded with additional money. We would then have maneuvering room to find more supporting lawyers and to train them if necessary.
Executive officer 20 hrs/week
With 2,500€ the position of an executive officer can be funded for one month.
