About this project

GoodVision has been active in Liberia, the fourth poorest country in the world, since 2019 under the project name GoodVision (Liberia). There is a great need for basic eye care here: around 5 million people live in Liberia and are cared for by fewer than 200 ophthalmologists. There is hardly any access to glasses in rural regions.
New specialists for ophthalmic optics in Liberia
GoodVision is addressing this supply gap by training optometry specialists, the GoodVision Technicians (GVTs). In February 2022, 11 men and women completed their training and have since joined the Liberian team in Monrovia.
Strong team celebrates successes
By the end of 2023, the GoodVision (Liberia) team had carried out over 17,000 eye tests nationwide and provided more than 3,000 people with glasses.
