About this project

Ricarda Kemmer from Awareness Deutschland gemeinnützige GmbH is responsible for this project
Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer in women in Western countries. One in eight women will develop the disease in the course of her life. In Germany alone, this amounts to around 70,000 new cases every year. But what many do not realise: The survival rate is 83 per cent, based on 10 years (RKI for 2020). The basis for a possible cure is, among other things, the early detection of the disease. And according to experts, recognising breast cancer at an earlier stage supports the use of gentler treatment methods. This can significantly reduce the burden on patients during the treatment phase.

In addition, women can help to detect any cancer in good time by performing monthly breast examinations themselves - around 80 per cent of breast cancers are detected during such self-examinations.
