Tree by Tree: Planting a more sustainable future for children in Bangladesh

Rising sea levels, more frequent droughts, and extreme heat waves are worsening the living conditions for many people in Bangladesh. 
To create a better and more sustainable future for childrens, we’re planting trees which provide families with income while also actively contributing to climate protection. Each family receives up to five seedlings, from fruit to fast-growing fooder trees for livestocks. To protect the young plants from free-ranged animals, we provide guards that can later be reused for planting new seedlings. Additionally, we offer training sessions that teach planting, care, and the propagation of new seedlings. 

To anchor our project sustainably, we plant tiny school forests together with local schools, which serve both as places of recreation and as practical learning sites. Here, students can learn how planting and caring for trees improve the local microclimate and why forests are essential for our planet. To improve biodiversity, we’re focusing on a variety of native tree species that reflect natural local forests.
