About this project

Etiopia-Witten e.V. from Etiopia Witten e.V. is responsible for this project
Destitute women and girls in Tigray, Ethiopia urgently need direct help after the birth of their children.

Pregnant women and girls need special support in the northern Ethiopian province of Tigray.
If you are worried about a complicated birth and are lucky enough to reach Tigray's capital Mekelle, you can go to the Ayder University Hospital there or give birth free of charge in the city hospital. Complicated births occur, for example, in multiple pregnancies, in very young mothers or in women with genital injuries to fear as a result of the rapes.

In order to enable these women to start life with and care for the newborn after they are discharged from the hospital, they receive a supply of food and initial equipment for the newborn. This package is called the “Mama Kit”. Due to the lack of financial resources in the hospitals that were badly damaged by the war and the lack of government support, these Mama Kits can only be given to women if sufficient donations arrive from abroad.

The German development aid organization Etiopia-Witten e.V. is collecting donations so that these Mama Kits can continue to be given to mothers in need.
