The Leipzig-based non-profit organization Creative Camps e.V. was founded in June 2024, and it is an absolute game-changer! It offers various cultural education vacation camps for educationally disadvantaged young people in Saxony. We are on a mission to empower camp participants to see the immense potential in shaping their environment through cultural and political education, by experiencing the power of co-determination and community.
We've assembled dynamic teams of music, dance, theater, media, and art educators, reserved accommodation, crafted schedules, and developed cost and financing plans. We've identified needs, recruited local alliance partners, designed a logo and website, and submitted several complex funding applications. This work took more than three months, was completely voluntary, and quite a challenge. While we've had to cancel the camps due to a lack of funding, we're confident that our association, though still quite young, will continue to make a positive impact in the future.
