About this project

We at the Alterlangen Volunteer Fire Department are committed to the safety and well-being of our community every day. In order to fulfill this responsibility even better, we would like to purchase a public defibrillator (AED) that can be used by anyone at any time.
Why do we need a public defibrillator?
- It saves lives: a defibrillator can be crucial in emergencies, especially in the event of sudden cardiac arrest. Every minute without defibrillation and cardiopulmonary resuscitation reduces the chances of survival by around 10%. A publicly accessible AED could therefore save valuable minutes until the emergency services arrive.
- Access for all: Our aim is to place the defibrillator in a central location in Alterlangen so that it is accessible to all citizens around the clock. This will increase the chances that help can be provided quickly and efficiently in the event of a cardiac emergency. A defibrillator can be helpful in 25% of cases, which is an elementary proportion!
- Community responsibility: Providing an AED shows the strong sense of responsibility and cohesion of our community. It is a sign that we care about the well-being of our fellow human beings and are working together to make our environment safer.
Our plan is to purchase this defibrillator as soon as possible. For this we need your support! Become part of a great project for our community!
Why are the costs at 5000€
In addition to the acquisition costs for the AED's with wall cabinet for approx. 3500,00€, we want to include the costs for the first spare parts. After using an AED, the adhesive patches have to be replaced, which cost approx. 180€. Every two years the law requires a so-called STK test, which costs approx. 190€. And to prevent defects or theft, we also need insurance for the device of approx. 50€ per year.
