About this project
The Latin dances are an important part of this project because the Latin rhythms are attached to the African rhythms – it is important that the Ugandan people understand that this cultural heritage is part of them. Although Latin Dances evolved from African rhythms Ugandas do not know about Latin Dances and they are not fully accepted in Ugandan society. In addition, LFU lays an emphasis on dance as a way of making a livelihood.
With the underlying project the following aims and objectives are to be achieved:
a) To introduce, encourage and teach New York salsa, Cuban salsa, cha cha, merengue, samba, bachata, jive and rumba and any other related dances throughout Uganda.
b) To raise awareness to social issues by Latin Dances.
c) To maintain Latin Flavor Uganda and Latin Flavor Night by supporting the volunteer dancers.
d) To further develop Latin Flavor Night to a new level of entertainment.
e) To give opportunities/stage for other dance companies to perform at Latin Flavor Night.
In order to keep the shows running Latin Flavor Uganda is looking for support to the volunteer dancers with transportation to rehearsals and a small facilitation. Furthemore, the rent of the dance studio at the National Theater, equipement for the shows, which includes lighting, music, decoration and costumes, as well as promotional material to reach a wider audience, are covered with your support. The funding we are looking for will cover the costs of a period of one year respectively 12 shows.
Latin Flavor Uganda is very grateful to every contribution and thanks you very much. We hope to see you in one of our shows.
