About this project
The schoolfee the parents have to pay is just roughly enough to pay a salary of about 30€ (3000 KSH) per month for the teachers. Unfortunately, the parents often cannot pay those fees. Thus, even that far to low salary is not realizable.
The average costs of living in the Shimba Hills are not less than those on the beach side.
As it is barely possible for the in total 9 teachers (we agreed on supporting only 7 teachers) and the watchmen to support their families with their monthly income, we have decided to double their salary - however, 6000 KSH are still less than what teachers in Kwale or Tiwi earn for the same work, but it helps a little.
At the same time, we still remember the government to keep its promise and finally send government teachers to the Sabrina Primary School.
We would be very happy to find some foster parents to safe this monthly salary.
Until that moment we need you - the betterplacer - to support the employees of the Sabrina Primary School in Pengo to receive a substantial wage which affords their families a decent living.
