Hundertthousands of people in West Africa were made homeless due to heavy rainfalls. Brother Antonio from Ouagadougou (Capital of Burkina Faso) asked action medeor for quick help. “Lots of houses crashed in and people had to be evacuated. They were brought to schools and health-centers.” Due to the heaviest rainfalls since 90 years hospitals were flooded, too. “We saved new born babies from a hospital which was waterdamaged and gave place in our health-center in Ouagadougou for 50 other ill people from another flooded hospital.”
The employees of action medeor are packing a sending of first aid for the people who were involved in the catastrophe. “They need lots of medicines, especially painkiller, medicine against fever, malaria and antibiotics of course. They also do need tents,” says Dirk Angemeer
from action medeor. “Heavy rainfalls also affect Niger, Guinea and the Senegal. Our partners over there need our urgent help, too.”
medeor is an expert in emergencies and catastrophe handling due to the well organized medicine-warehouse and long-term experience. “Even if there are catastrophes all over the world at the same time; we are able to help tenthousands of people immediately. This morning we sent a huge relief supply for the victims of the earthquake in Indonesia, the next sending for West Africa is ready to be picked up.
