About this project

M. Stier from Handicap International e.V. is responsible for this project
People in Syria have been living in chaos for six years. 200 people are killed or injured every day. In the face of violence, millions of people are forced to flee. Handicap International has been active in refugee camps in Lebanon and Jordan since the spring of 2012. Since January 2013 Handicap International has also been working inside Syria in order to help the most vulnerable victims of the conflict. Especially children, people with disabilities, victims of torture, pregnant women or the elderly are often not able to get access to humanitarian aid. The mobile teams of Handicap International are their last hope.

More than 400 aid workers support hospitals with specialized equipment. Handicap International has also established “disability and vulnerability focal points” in the refugee camps to help the most vulnerable in their need to access humanitarian aid. We are actively looking for those most in need of protection and offer rehabilitation measures and psychosocial care: many refugees are traumatized by the horrible events. Apart from therapy and medical examination we also provide orthopedic equipment such as prostheses, walking aids, or wheelchairs which are fitted to individual needs. Please support our teams with your donation! Together we can help the most vulnerable victims of this terrible conflict.
